Jarrett Allen Is The FUTURE

Ever since Andre Drummond was taken out of the lineup the newly acquired center Jarrett Allen has been dominant. He has proven to us why he is the center of the future for the Cavs. His insane rim protection combined with his quickly developing offensive skills make him an invaluable part of the rebuild. Today we will discuss how he changes the game for the Cavs.

Rim Protection

Ever since he stepped on the court in Cleveland his rim protection abilities have been on full display. His effort on this side of the ball is very good to see especially coming from you know who. He changes our defense completely by allowing our guards to fully commit to the outside shot while they funnel defenders into the paint. Jarrett’s quickness also is useful in guarding the midrange off the pick and roll. We can effectively guard every level of the pick and roll.

Roll Man

While on the surface his offense is fairly simple and one dimensional, he does many things that make him a positive on this side of the ball. His incredible athleticism allows him to catch just about any lob pass. Him and Garland have already connected on many of these and I look forward to seeing them connect on these for years to come.

He is always the most efficient player on the court. His tendency to never do too much makes him a valuable piece. He takes what is given to him and does not force tough shots.

Stretch Five?

While this part of this game has not been shown much as of now, there is some evidence of him developing a 3 point shot. He has a couple of 3’s in the last few games since being inserted into the starting lineup. One of these being a very confident looking shot on a pop part of the way through the shot clock.

Final Thoughts

Jarrett Allen has been a refreshing combination of defense and efficiency. He improves the play of everyone around him and drastically improves the chances of winning every game he plays in. We need to have him in our long term plans and with the way he is playing right now, that looks pretty clear.
