Recently us Cavs fans received some unfortunate news, Larry Nance Jr. is out 4-6 weeks with a broken finger. How will this struggling team be able to survive without our defensive backbone, the jack of all trades, and a dark horse for DPOY? Kevin Love will make a huge impact on this team when he comes back along with JB Bickerstaff going to smaller lineups in Nance’s absence.
The Cavs need All Star Kevin Love to maintain their playoff hopes. His shot making and ball movement is exactly what this team needs. Right now Sexton and Garland are the only sources of shot creation this team has. We could use his post scoring and tough mid range shots as a safety valve for this offense. His 3 point spacing would also be very helpful with the lack of deep shooting we have had as of late.
Small ball power forwards will also be required while Nance is out. The player I am looking most at is Dylan Windler. He would give us much needed spacing as well as some of the defensive versatility of Nance. Some people might question his ability to hold up to more traditional power forwards but his length plus energy on the glass should make the height disadvantage less impactful.
Despite Larry Nance being incredibly important to this team I believe there are ways we can manage without him and stay competitive. While he is a huge loss on the court, he is an even bigger loss off the court with all the help he gives to small businesses. He is doing incredible works of generosity for the whole city and should be more acknowledged for them.
